Our Story
Heartwood Church is a replant that was birthed out of Alliance Bible Church in Covington, WA. Our name ‘Heartwood’ comes from the inner-core of the tree that dies as the tree ages. Heartwood provides the tree with strength and stability for the purpose of continued growth and life.
Jesus is our Heartwood - the One who died in order to give us strength, stability and new life. We respond by inviting Him to be the center of our life and being. As followers of Jesus, we seek to model His example by sacrificially loving and serving the peoples, neighborhoods and communities that we live, work and play in.
Our Mission
Cultivating a community that belongs to, is formed by and sent by Jesus.
Belonging
We call ourselves a ‘church family’. Our emphasis is on authenticity, commitment and trust. Our church family is multigenerational, diverse, and eclectic. Belonging is how we begin to discover our purpose and identity in Christ.

Forming
Through discipleship and leadership development within authentic community, we embark on a lifelong journey of formation - heart, love, spiritual maturity, surrender and growth as we seek to imitate Christ.

Sending
As a community of purpose, we are sent by Jesus to love, serve and plant seeds of the Gospel.

As a church family, our mission, vision and values are not a rigid set of rules and regulations. They are a way of life - life together.
One Heart, One Mind

Abiding in Jesus
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” (John 15:4)
Kingdom Over Castle
“In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.” (2 Corinthians 8:2)
Sacrificial Ministry
“Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” (James 2:15-17)
