Heartwood Church is a replant of Alliance Bible Church in Covington, WA. The name ‘Heartwood’ comes from the inner-core of the tree that dies as the tree ages. Heartwood provides the tree with strength for the purpose continued growth and new life.
We believe that Jesus is our Heartwood - the one who died to give us strength and new life. He lives at the center of our life and being. As followers of Jesus, we follow His example by sacrificially loving and serving the peoples, neighborhoods and communities we live, work and play in.
“In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” (Isaiah 61:3)
“...then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” (Philippians 2:2)
“Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” (John 15:4)
“In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.” (2 Corinthians 8:2)
“Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” (James 2:15-17)
